Basic BG stuff:
- From a long line of shamans and runemasters of Russian extraction who've
moved around Europe. Every (x) generations a girl in the family is gifted
with the power of the Valkyrie to fight evil, ala the Slayer.
- Unfortunately, this generation there was some sort of screw up, and now
Yuri (a male name in Russia) is the latest Valkyrie, Vanadis. He's a bit 
femmy because for a while he was raised as a girl.
- Owns a cafe a few buildings away from Celine's shop called Mimir's Well;
on the side he makes temporary 'good luck' runestones for people for a
fairly ridiculous charge, and thus is pretty wealthy.
- There's a prophecy about to whom the Valkyrie will lose her virginity,
essentially saying that if she's taken by someone worthy, something good
will happen, but otherwise the stars spell doom. Since it's not clear what
this prophecy means for a 'male' Valkyrie, Yuri is a virgin and highly
skittish about sex.
- As Yuri: male, 20 years old. Has a sort of wiry look one expects in
track stars. Not overly tall. Tends to wear black turtlenecks a lot and a
small stone with the rune 'Os' (Odin) around his neck on a pendant. Has
naturally silver hair on top but is black underneath (think Hatsuharu from
Fruits Basket). Yuri is more timid and dorky/friendly than when he's
Vanadis, although it's not full-blown MPD.
- As Vanadis: female, indeterminate but young age. Has a winged helmet and
very light form-fitting armor of a dark blue color (breastplate, shoulder
guards, etc.) as well as a long, thin spear with an elaborate point (a
replica of Odin's spear Gungnir). She is more confident than Yuri and
almost obsessive about fighting evil. She's also shorter than Yuri is and
her hair is completely silver and much longer, to about her mid-back.
- The Valkyrie fights evil, period. She's quite good at it. That said,
she's not a zealot and can recognize the difference between good and evil
supernaturals (she's not a Demon Hunter). However, her justice is swift
and merciless when she suspects evil and she's actually quite reckless
when it comes to saving lives, often putting hers on the line.
- The Valkyrie gives Yuri psychic visions when someone's in danger and
needs 'their' help. A special magic inherent to her keeps others from
connecting the two unless they see him transform.
- The Valkyrie's special attack is called "Divine Grace"; the spear
briefly disappears and a replica of it made of light and surrounded by
angel feathers shoots out at the target.
- Yuri has a very slightly Russian accent (VERY slight). Vanadis doesn't;
she speaks English like an American would, oddly enough.
